Due to the popularity of mobile phones and other portable devices as a means of entertainment on the go, there`s a number of games available for these devices today. Some of the games are built-in into the most basic devices and some of the mid to high-end phones support additional games to be downloaded and installed into them. The lighter the game, the wider will be its compatibility as lighter games can run even on the phone with average capabilities. Keeping in mind this requirement of the users, Pong v.1.3 has been developed exclusively for use on mobile phones.
Pong is a freeware game for the mobile platform. The game is based on the old pong game introduced in 1972 by Atari Incorporated and belongs to arcade genre involving skills on the part of the player. It has a simple 2D interface with black background and the two paddles shown vertically on each side of the screen and a separating vertical line in the center and on the upper left hand corner of the screen, you can see your score in white letters. The rules of the game can be compared somewhat to the tennis game where, basically, you have to prevent the ball from falling in your court. In the same way, the player controls his paddle to hit the ball to the other player and prevent the ball from missing, just like what you do in arkanoid game. The game is available for Java platform based mobile phones and is downloadable in .JAR as well as .JAD phones, thus ensuring compatibility on the most basic multimedia Java based phones.
Overall, Pong v.1.3 is a game with pretty basic interface which is light on the resources of your phone and you can play the game for a long duration; but beware that you don’t get addicted to it with its unlimited replayability. Hence, it receives a score of four rating points on the scale of five.
